Integrated Arts
The Integrated Arts Program program is designed to provide a well-rounded, holistic educational experience that nurtures every aspect of a child's development. By integrating a variety of disciplines, we aim to educate the whole child, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Program Overview
Our Integrated Arts Program includes a diverse array of courses including:
Music: Music courses are a year long commitment. Students enrolled in the music program should plan to attend for the duration of the school year.
Band: Students will learn to play a variety of instruments, read music, and perform in ensembles. This course emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and the joy of creating music together.
Orchestra: Similar to band, our orchestra program allows students to explore string instruments and participate in group performances, honing their skills and appreciating the nuances of orchestral music.
Chorus: In chorus, students will develop their vocal abilities, learn about different musical genres, and perform in concerts. This course encourages self-expression and builds confidence.
Project Lead the Way: This innovative program focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education through hands-on projects and real-world problem-solving. It fosters critical thinking and prepares students for future technological advancements.
Communications/Civics: This course helps students develop essential communication skills and understand their roles and responsibilities as citizens. It covers topics like public speaking, media literacy, and civic engagement.
Art: Our art classes allow students to explore various mediums, including painting, drawing, and sculpture. These classes encourage creativity and help students express their ideas and emotions visually.
Media Arts: This course introduces students to digital media, including photography, video production, and graphic design. It combines technical skills with artistic creativity, preparing students for the digital age.
Executive Functioning: This course is designed to equip 8th-grade students with essential executive functioning skills necessary for academic and personal success. Executive functioning skills include a set of mental processes that help individuals manage their thoughts, actions, and emotions to achieve goals. In this course, students will learn and practice skills such as organization, time management, planning, goal setting, self-regulation, and flexible thinking.
