2008 8th grade graduation.....bakers wanted!!!!!!!!!!
As tradition would have it we are looking for anyone wanting to help out the graduates and their families by baking for this year's family reception on Tuesday, June 3rd.
What are we asking for? Two dozen baked goods of any kind (finger food, no forks required)on festive disposable platters.
Our family reception is from 8:15-8:45 p.m. and we welcome approximately 900 people to this event each year so we need all the help we can get!
The baked goods are to be dropped off at Misner (Grove Street) the morning of graduation from 9:00-11:00. Someone will be on hand to receive your "goodies". A reminder will be sent to you the week before with all the details.
If you are interested please respond via email to Julie Kaplan at jbkdancer@aol.com
Thank you in advance for your help and we look forward to working with you during this very exciting time for our children and their families.
Thank you,
Julie Kaplan, Jackie Krause and Julie Pappas
Civil War Day
Dear Seventh Grade Parents,
On Tuesday, May 27, the seventh graders will participate in Civil War Day, a full-day program sponsored by the Cultural Arts Program of the PTO. This day-long event, orchestrated by the professional living history organization, Dont Know Much About History, will include a series of activities and presentations on various aspects of life during the Civil War. We are excited to present this interesting, hands-on learning experience for the students.
In preparation for Civil War Day, please note the following:
Weather permitting; the days activities will take place outdoors on the fields of Central School. Please wear sun block.
As part of the days activities, the students will participate in infantry drills. Students in the Bailey, Branstrom, Couturier, and Geier advisories should wear a BLUE shirt. Students in the Gabriel, Sitz, Mladic and Alsberg advisories should wear a GRAY shirt. If the weather is cool, students should dress in layers so that their shirt is on the outside.
Tuesday, May 27, is a special lunch day. If your child does not participate in the lunch program, he/she should bring lunch. Vending machines and microwaves will not be available. Two snacks and water will be provided during the day.
Thank you very much for your cooperation. We are looking forward to this wonderful educational experience.
Warm regards,
Julie Platanias Cathy Scheman

PlayPumps
This year we are focusing our fundraising efforts on raising money to purchase a water pump for a needy community in sub-Saharan Africa. A PlayPump is a merry-go-round that is attached to a water pump. As kids play, water pumps into a storage tank. Whenever anyone wants water, a simple turn of the faucet pours it out. To learn more about PlayPumps, please visit 'www.playpumps.org'.
