Reminder from the Central School Green Team
The Central School Green Team would like to remind those who drive their children to school to be considerate and prevent idling as much as possible. Our students have put together an informational flyer to educate everyone about the negative effects of idling. Thank you for helping to do your part to help protect our children and our planet!
Health Reminders from our Nurses…
Happy New Year! As we welcome our students back to school during the height of cold and flu season, here are some important guidelines to consider when you hear those words, “I don’t feel well; I can’t go to school today.” Please take a moment to review the important tips from our nurses in District 35. The number one tip to avoid sickness remains washing your hands throughout each day.
The Board of Education has approved the 2020-2021 school year calendar. Winter break and spring break are common across New Trier Township. Click here to view a one page listing of major events for the upcoming school year.
Winter Weather Reminders
Safety is always the primary focus in deciding whether to keep schools open and continue with learning in our classrooms. Please click here to read additional details about the factors considered for school closings in District 35. In the event that a school closing is warranted, we will make every effort to notify families no later than 5:00 am.
Vaping - What Parents Need to Know
Are you aware of all the facts regarding vaping? We urge our parents to review these resources to learn more details of the harmful impact of vaping. If you have a middle school son or daughter, please take time to review these together. Biobehavioral scientist Suchitra Krishnan-Sarin explains what you’re actually inhaling when you vape and the impact to your body systems. While this topic will be covered in our health classes at Central School, it is important that we all know the facts and support healthy choices for our youth.
Share Your Shoes
Throughout the 2019-2020 school year, District 35 is pleased to partner with the Glencoe PTO and GJHP as we collect gently used and new shoes for children ages 0-14 to donate to Cradles to Crayons. A collection bin is located in each school entrance. Thank you for helping us to support this incredible organization that serves children in need throughout Chicago!
2019-2020 Student Registration Fees

Safe Routes to Schools
District 35 is pleased to have partnered with the Village of Glencoe and the Active Transportation Steering Committee to develop updated Safe Routes to Schools information. Please view the routes here to be aware of crossing guard locations, stop signs, and recommended routes for our students. We encourage all families to consider ways to walk or bike to school as you plan for the new school year.
The school district may release directory information which includes:
Birth date and place

Period of attendance in school
Additionally, student pictures without identifying information may be posted on the district web page with informational pieces. Any parent(s)/guardian(s) may prohibit the release of any or all of the above by delivering a written objection to the Building Principal.
If your child will be absent from school, please call the District 35 absence line (847-835-7801) to report the absence. In addition, if your child participates in a Park District class after school, please be mindful that you must also call and report your child’s absence to the Park District. Thank you!
