This information was sent to parents as a means of clarifying the recent work of District 35 and the Board of Education in providing a safe and secure learning environment for our school community.
In January 2013, the Facilities Committee, a Board of Education subcommittee responsible for maintaining and enhancing District facilities, held an open meeting to discuss District 35’s safety and security practices. One outcome of this meeting was the recommendation that the Board hire independent professional firms that specialize in school safety and security to perform safety audits for the District.

With the support of our 8th Grade Executive Cabinet, we have added three collections across our schools (in addition to the CapriSun & TREX in place). You can help raise money for the school and charities chosen by the students. This year the list of charities includes the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society and Autism Speaks. You or your children can bring the following items to South, West or Central and deposit them in the receptacles by the front offices.

Welcome back to the 2014-2015 school year! We thank parents and visitors for following these security procedures when you visit our schools.
All visitors are asked to present a valid drivers license or state ID to enter the school each time they visit. This identification information will be stored in our system and scanned through the national registries at each visit.
All visitors will be issued an orange lanyard that should be worn in a visible location while in the school. When exiting the building please return to the main office, sign-out and collect your license/ID.

After 17 years of service as the Superintendent of School District 35, Dr. Cathlene Crawford is retiring in June 2015. The Board of Education (BOE) has begun the process to find her successor. The selection of the next Superintendent of Schools is one of the Board’s most important duties and the Board vows to provide a search process as comprehensive, transparent, and thoughtful as possible.

Please note the following medical record requirements for public schools. Should you have questions, please call the school nurse (South School: 847-835-6440, West School: 847-835-6640 and Central School: 847-835-7640).
Illinois law requires proof of an eye examination by an optometrist or physician who provides complete eye exams be submitted as a child enters kindergarten or is new to an Illinois school. The exam must be completed within one year prior to your child beginning school. All forms must be turned in by October 15th. Download the EYE EXAM form here.
