Authors, Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis are coming to Central!

On Wednesday, November 8th, at 9:00 a.m., authors, Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis, are coming to Central to speak with 5th and 6th grade students about writing and creating stories.  This imaginative husband and wife team are the authors of the three book Wildwood Chronicles; Wildwood, Under Wildwood, and Wildwood Imperium..  These illustrated novels tell the story of Prue and her friend, Curtis.  Living in Wildwood, they find themselves on a rescue mission to save Prue’s brother when he is kidnapped by crows.  As they embark on their quest, they uncover a secret world where warring creatures, peaceful mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions are battling for control of the wilderness known as Wildwood.  Their latest book, The Whiz Mob and the Grenadine Kid will be released on October 24, 2017. This humorous adventure novel tells the story of young Charlie Fisher, a bored lonely American living with his diplomat father in France.  On an ordinary morning, while sketching in the market square, he witnesses a group of pickpockets collecting the wealth of the people strolling through the square.  Mesmerized as the thieves rifle through the coats and then dissolve into the crowd, Charlie realizes he has also been one of their victim.  Instead of reporting the theft, Charlie convinces one of the pickpockets to teach him the ‘tricks of the trade’, and thus begins Charlie’s dangerous adventure.  In addition to writing, Colin is also the singer and songwriter for the band the Decemberists and Carson illustrates the band’s record covers, T-shirts, and website.
